Summary of main updates with this new version:
1. Adventure Path, Adventure, and Scenarios of previous version have been replaced with a Storybook (a small rulebook for the adventure).
2. Scenario specifies story banes as either villain, henchmen or danger.
3. Scenario specifies whether henchmen allow you to close the location or not.
4. Generic card proxies have been created to use instead of needing multiple copies of every henchmen (lessens cost of game, and allows for additional new cards.
5. Instead of characters being represented by a card, stand-up pawns are provided. (But you can also purchase painted miniatures for most of the characters!)
6. New game terms have been included in the game, and old terms replaced. Rulebook has a great glossary describing each keyword along with where to find it in the rulebook.
7. Each adventure has directions for building and upgrading the vault (available cards in the box for characters and locations.)
8. Blessings reformatted to easily highlight their power while in the hourglass (timer), and powers while in play.
9. Characters can now be proficient with traits in addition to card types.
10. Cards can be vulnerable or resistant to other traits, allowing either a +4 bonus or -4 penalty to checks.
11. Recovery of cards to be banished are handled differently at the end of the turn.
12. Many options to make the game easier or harder depending on your preferences.
13. Detailed explanation on how to use cards from older sets.

Chuck Wade
July 28, 2020Can the other character help with checks? If so can you explain how?

July 28, 2020I know this was a while ago but for each scenario for setup do you shuffle ANY level cards to the location decks?
Federico Somaschini
July 28, 2020Quick question, at the campsite location, were you supposed to heal the barbarian at the end of her turn? I thought you could? I’m trying to learn the rules but maybe I missed something

July 28, 2020Newbie question: Can you discard more than one ally per turn to explore? Or does the general “one boon per turn” apply when discarding? I was confused with the porcupine part.

July 28, 2020Should the weapon 1 be in your game at this time

July 28, 2020Dale, thanks for putting the effort in. Brought this game on the back of the excellent digital game, of which I'm on my second run with a witch. That said with the card game, I need playthroughs like this, to coincide with the rule book. I find it clarifies certain aspects I wasn't understanding. Thanks again.

July 28, 2020interesting video. The hero powers could be shown a little better, it went quite fast, plus the con/wis etc checks, would help to have the cards more close-up. I didnt follow that.

July 28, 2020Not sure about this version of the card game, but in the old game, overkill was sometimes a bad thing 🙂

July 28, 2020my question is what was the point of the rescue story bane you never used it at all
Nanaic Relgiah
July 28, 2020Hey man when you defeated the henchman @ 18:45 and you moved immediately after closing the location, is that a new rule? I thought you could only move at the beginning of your next turn?
Patrick Whited
July 28, 2020Very well done and helpful video. I never took the dive on the original version but this new edition looked more manageable
and streamlined so I grabbed a copy of this core set. Hoping the learning curve isn't too intense because it looks like great
fun to play solo or with one other person.

July 28, 2020what about the 1 reroll on the blessing
jack wilson
July 28, 2020One thing I noticed during your video when you encounter the goblin with scioni when you were rolling the d6 you rolled a 1 but there was a rule on the top blessing that says during the encounter the top blessings said if you roll a 1 during that turn you could reroll the dice

July 28, 2020Thanks, I enjoyed watching. It`s a long time since I played Rise of the Runelords, so this was helpful to see the flow of the game.
I have too many minis. You just made me buy some more from Reaper!
I hope you will carry on with your play thru of this. Cheers!
